ONGC Scholarships for SC/ST students; apply by Oct 15

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) Limited; Green Hills, Tel Bhavan, Dehradun has invited applications for the award of 1000 scholarships to meritorious SC/ST students, pursuing professional courses in Engineering, Medical Stream and Masters Degree Course In Business Administration, Geology and Geophysics.

The scholarships are worth Rs. 48,000/- per annum each. 50% scholarships are reserved for girl students.

Scholarship amount per month is Rs.4000/- for all the eligible courses. The Stream, Qualifying Examination, duration of the course, Total No. of Scholarships to be awarded for the stream are as follows. Engineering: Eligibility is 10+2; duration 4 years; Number of scholarships will be 494; MBBS:  10+2, 4 years; 90; MBA: Graduation; 2 years; 146; Masters in Geology/Geophysics:  Graduation; 2 years; 270.

A total of 200 scholarships will be distributed to students of various Zones by considering all the students of the states included in each Zone. The distribution of States/UTs into zones are as follows:

Zone 1 (North):  J&K, Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh

Zone 2 (West):  Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Daman & Diu, Dadar & Nagar Haveli

Zone 3 (North-East): Assam, Sikkim, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura

Zone 4 (East): Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal

Zone 5 (South): Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Pudducherry, Lakshdweep, Andaman & Nicobar Islands

Eligibility: Applicant should be an Indian national, studying in India and should be a student of 1st year of 4 year Graduate Engineering or MBBS courses or 1st year of 2 year Masters Degree in Geology/Geophysics or MBA. The courses should be full-time, regular, approved by AICTE/ MCI/UGC/Association of Indian Universities/State Education Boards/State Government/Central Government.

Applicant should have obtained minimum 60% marks in 12th class for Engineering and MBBS disciplines. For P.G. Courses (Geology/Geophysics/MBA), applicant should have secured 60% marks in graduation or an Overall Grade Point Average (OGPA/CGPA) of minimum 6.0 in 10 points’ scale of grading system.

Gross annual income of family of the candidate from all sources should not be more than Rs.4.50 lakhs per annum (Rs.37,500/- per month).

Applicant should not be over 30 years of age as on 1st October, 2019.

The specific zone where a student can apply for scholarship will be decided on the basis of the location of University/College/Institute in which the student was studying for the qualifying examination (12th class for Graduate courses and Graduation degree for Post Graduate courses) irrespective of the domicile of the student.

Applicant should not be availing or intending to avail any other financial assistance/scholarship from any other source. However, student getting fee waiver/ reimbursement of tuition fees from any of the State governments are eligible for applying for the scholarship.

The same may be completed with all the supporting documents as mentioned in the application form, duly certified and forwarded by their Head/Principal/ Dean of the Institute/ College/University to reach the office concerned, depending on the Zone of the applicant given in the detailed Notification, latest by 15 October 2019.

The final list of the scholarship beneficiaries shall be posted at www.ongcindia.com by the 10 December 2019.

The continuation of scholarship once awarded shall be subject to satisfactory performance in each year’s annual examination and conduct of the candidate. Scholarship shall not be paid for the year where the student fails to maintain the scale of 5 grade points out of 10 grade points scale or secure less than 50% in the examination, as the case may be.
