BHUBANESWAR: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday unveiled the logo and portal for the Kalia scholarship (KALIA Chhatra Brutti) scheme at the secretariat. The scheme aimed to help children of Kalia beneficiaries to pursue higher education in professional and technical courses.
As per the scheme, the state government will bear all expenditure for children of Kalia beneficiaries, who will get into government professional colleges on merit basis.
Eligible candidates can avail assistance to study in more than 13 professional/technical subjects including MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, B Pharma and BSC Nursing courses among others through more than 30 government institutions.
Similarly, children of Kalia beneficiaries pursuing technical educations in more than 11 disciplines in technical educational institutions will also be eligible to avail the benefit under the scholarship scheme.
Under the scheme, funds will be directly sent to the bank accounts of the eligible students through direct benefit transfer. The funds provided under KALIA Scholarship will cover tuition fees, annual college fees, onetime college fees and hostel establishment charges.
The state agriculture department has asked the state higher education, health and family welfare, skill development and technical education to urge institutions under them to communicate the students to apply for the KALIA scholarship. The students can apply online through the Kalia portal.
